Since the release of Lucky80 in 2024, Weikav has been quiet. Not absent, but silent – a deliberate pause to listen, to reflect, and to grow. The months following Lucky80 were not spent chasing the next product, but gathering insights from the people who matter most: our users. Every suggestion, every piece of feedback, and every critique became a note in the design journal that would eventually shape our next creation.
We knew we were far from perfect. In structure, in firmware, in the subtle details that elevate a keyboard from good to great, there was still so much to learn. That realization was the spark. Over the first half of 2025, we expanded our product team, redefined our design process, and decided to build something that would represent everything we’ve learned so far – a keyboard that felt like the culmination of our journey.
This is NUT65.
Its name is inspired by the lifecycle of a nut – from blossom to harvest, the result of patience and growth. NUT65 is our most mature work yet, infused with every piece of technical mastery we’ve acquired. From the 220-grit aluminum housing to the redesigned exterior, from the rhythmic RGB light bar that dances to ambient sound to the refined engineering hidden within, NUT65 represents not just a product, but the story of our evolution.
Designing NUT65 was not about reinventing the keyboard – it was about perfecting the essence of what a 65% keyboard can be. From the very first sketch, our goal was to combine a timeless layout with an aesthetic and tactile experience that feels unmistakably Weikav.
The 220-grit aluminum housing is the cornerstone of this refinement. The higher grit level delivers a surface texture that is both visually sleek and silky to the touch, reducing the graininess often felt on lower-grade finishes. This fine blasting process requires more time, more precision, and more cost, but it’s the kind of invisible craftsmanship we believe you can feel with every interaction.
We also redesigned the exterior silhouette, softening transitions between edges and curves to create a more cohesive, flowing form. The addition of a dynamic RGB light bar elevates the experience – it doesn’t just illuminate, but reacts to ambient sound, pulsing in rhythm with your environment. Whether you’re deep in work or lost in music, the keyboard now feels alive, seamlessly blending utility with personality.
In response to user feedback collected throughout 2025, we streamlined our color lineup, retaining only the six most beloved color variants. Each color was chosen not just for visual appeal, but for how it harmonizes with the aluminum surface and the RGB lighting effects. The result is a palette that feels both modern and timeless, allowing each NUT65 to tell a different story without losing its core identity.
While NUT65’s design speaks for itself on the surface, much of its strength lies in the engineering details you don’t see. We set out to refine every internal component, ensuring that the feel, sound, and durability of the keyboard matched the elegance of its exterior.
One of the highlights of NUT65 is its dual Gasket mounting option. Out of the box, the keyboard uses a Plate Gasket structure, carefully tuned to provide a balanced typing feel with just the right amount of cushioning. For enthusiasts who prefer a different feedback profile, we’ve included upgrade components that allow a switch to PCB Gasket mounting, enabling users to experience a softer, more flexible typing sensation. This adaptability ensures that NUT65 can cater to a variety of preferences without compromising its core design philosophy.
Power was another challenge. With space being a constant constraint in compact 65% keyboards, we engineered a solution that fits a massive 6000mAh battery into the NUT65’s frame. This upgrade offers remarkable endurance without compromising portability. To complement the larger battery, we abandoned the traditional ribbon cable connection and introduced a magnetic pogo-pin connector, a modern and more reliable system that simplifies assembly while reducing wear and tear over time.
Every layer of NUT65 has been purposefully crafted, from the internal sound-dampening materials to the precise alignment of its components. These are the kinds of details that are often overlooked but directly impact the user experience, making each keypress more refined and consistent.
NUT65 is more than just our latest keyboard – it is the embodiment of Weikav’s growth and persistence. After Lucky80, we knew we needed to pause, reflect, and rethink what it truly means to create a product that resonates with its users.
